Scott MacIntyre, accused of threatening to slay Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, appeared in the Old City Hall courthouse Thursday and is scheduled for a bail hearing in Feb.

45-year-old MacIntyre is charged with forcible entry, two counts of threatening death and drug possession (heroin and cocaine) after supposedly forcing his way into Mayor Ford’s Etobicoke home. The suspect allegedly threatened the mayor at his home Wednesday before escaping to Mississauga, where police took him into custody.

MacIntyre’s lawyer, Sam Boutzouvis, informed the court that his client needed “medical attention immediately,” but would not give details about his medical problem.

Apparently, MacIntyre had a relationship with Kathy Ford, Mayor’s sister. A few years ago, the man was charged with several weapons offences after accidentally shooting her to death, though those charges were allegedly withdrawn.

Moreover, a court order was passed prohibiting MacIntyre from contacting Mr. Ford or any of his close family members. “That’s fine, that’s fine by me,” Mr. MacIntyre said in return. His latest encounter with Ford drove a few councillors to think that the mayor should adopt a security detail.

The man appeared in the court for a few minutes before the matter was delayed till Feb. 10.
