On February 2, 2012, charges were approved for 40 year old Vancouver resident David Roland Messina, for four counts of sexual assault against four adult women who are in Canada studying English.

Messina, who also uses the name “Dallas,” was previously the subject of a media release for fraudulently subletting living space to foreign exchange students. According to those reports, he sublet living space to foreign exchange students under false pretences, and did not pay the respective landlords.

Messina was publicly quoted at the time as not fearing police involvement, saying “Why would the police get involved? It’s a civil matter.”

The Vancouver Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit believes that Messina may be continuing to take advantage of people who are vulnerable in our community.

The investigation has resulted in the Crown approving charges for one count of sexual assault on each of the four women, and Messina was arrested on those charges on February 3rd at a residence in Burnaby. He was remanded into custody over the weekend and was scheduled to appear in court this morning.
