A 40-year-old Cumberland County man has died after he was struck by a tree he was cutting down.

On Sunday, March 25th, 2012 at 11:45 a.m., RCMP Amherst were called to a sudden death on Chapman Settlement Road in Chapman Settlement. The investigation revealed that a male was cutting down a tree on his property when the tree fell on him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The body has been transported to Halifax for an autopsy. The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
