Codiac Regional RCMP General Investigation members are investigating four cases of arson which occurred earlier this morning at three different addresses on Churchill Street and one on Oakland Avenue in the area commonly known as Parkton in Moncton.

On April 12, 2010 at approximately 4:45 am police were called to attend a home on Churchill where two vehicles and the exterior of a home were damaged by a fire. While the RCMP and the Moncton Fire Department were investigating the cause of the blaze, they discovered that there had also been other vehicles burned on Churchill Street and one Oakland Avenue earlier that day.

In total the police are investigating four cases of arson where six vehicles and the exterior of a home were damaged by fire.

"The RCMP is reminding people that they should remove valuables and make sure their vehicles are locked. "In this case, five of these vehicles had been left unlocked," explains Codiac Regional RCMP spokesperson Cst. Chantal Farrah. "Criminals often look for easy opportunities and anything which can be done to deter them can assist in preventing you from becoming a victim of crime."

Anyone who may have seen something suspicious or suspicious people in the Parkton Area between midnight and 4:45 am this morning is asked to contact the Codiac Regional RCMP at 506-857-2400. To remain anonymous, contact N.B. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
