Even though It would’ve definitely looked like a good idea at the time, Wildrose Opposition leader Danielle Smith, was very harshly criticized and later enforced take her statement back, after she recommended that contaminated meat of Alberta’s E. coli scandal could be reused to feed the hungry and poor.

Smith made the assertion through her Twitter account stating that the meat recalled by XL Foods in Brooks, Alta., could possibly be cooked thoroughly to eliminate any E. coli bacteria infection and then safely fed to people in need of a good meal. There was a sudden out roar on Twitter as innumerable tweets criticized Smith’s statement. Her political opponents were also not so far behind, NDP leader Brian Mason, declared that Wildrose leader has no regards for Albertans in poverty and that is why she’s OK with feeding them tainted meat.

Smith later confessed on Monday that she made a controversial statement, and it was a blunder for her to tweet on such controversial issue with such carelessness. Smith was talking in an open line radio show where she defended herself claiming that “if you can’t explain your position in 140 words on Twitter, you shouldn’t try.”

Smith pointed out that such aggressive public reaction of her tweet illustrates that people have very little faith in what the officials are doing with the beef crisis. She made it clear that public is so skeptic that it does not trust the officials to do anything else but destroy the meat.
