Toronto Police has decisively charged new murder charges related to the deadly mass shooting that took place at a BBQ party on Danzig Street in Toronto. 18-years-old Shaquan Mesquito was arrested on Wednesday.

The culprits involved in the incident were indicted with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder and 23 counts of aggravated assault. Mesquito is scheduled to appear in front of court on Dec. 12. The police narrated that incident to be one of the worst gun fights in the history of Toronto. This is the first murder charge laid in the investigation so far.

Mesquito had previously been indicted with uttering threats on the day of the Danzig shooting. Police stated that Mesquito is a member of a gang in Malvern area in Scarborough and is often called by his street name “Bam Bam.” He is now indicted with attempted murder of Nahom Tsegazab, which police recognize as a member of rival gang. Few days after the shooting, 19-years-old Tsegazab, was also arrested and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm in connection with the Danzig investigation. Police claimed that Tsegazab is member of Galloway Boys, nicknamed “Gifted”.

Further details of the incident and its investigation will be released by the police at a press conference that is scheduled to take place on Thursday morning. 14-year-old Shyanne Charles of Toronto and 23-years-old Joshua Yasay of Ajax were the two victims shot dead on July 16 gunfire at a community party in the city’s east end, which left 23 others injured.
