Mayor Naheed Nenshi will no longer be sporting an Argonauts jersey on Monday as he lost Grey Cup bet on Sunday. Toronto witnessed the 100th Grey Cup game with a 35-22 victory over Calgary, which made Nenshi loose his bet with Toronto’s Mayor Rob Ford.

Ford had previously gifted Nenshi a jersey to wear at the upcoming council meeting, but Nenshi did the opposite and wore his Stampeders jersey on Monday instead, saving the Argonauts jersey for another day. As part of the bet which Nenshi lost, he will now have to donate food equivalent to weight of Ford, i.e. an estimated 330 lbs., to Toronto’s food bank.

On the other hand, there were several more noticeable bets placed on the Grey Cup game, including the one of Alberta Premier Alison Redford. Redford’s loss of bet to Ontario Premier Dalton McGunity, has now obligated him to donate 100 articles of clothing to McGunity’s favorite charity. The bet of the CEO of the Calgary Zoo, Dr. Clément Lanthier, have landed him even more trouble. He is now likely going to clean out the penguin enclosure as he also lost a bet to his counterparts at the Toronto Zoo.

The quarterback of the losing team, Kevin Glenn, seemed very disappointed, and stated that it was “very frustrated when you can’t get into a rhythm and then when you do make drives and only kick field goals. That’s not what we’re about. You have to put touchdowns on the board and we didn’t do it.”
