Last Evening of year 2012 was not so lucky for three pedestrians who fell victim to three different accidents and all had to be taken to a nearly hospital while they suffered from serious injuries on Monday.

The first mishap occurred with a 22-year-old woman who is suffering from life-threatening injuries after being hit by a streetcar at St. Clair Ave. W. and Dufferin St. on Monday afternoon. A traffic services Const., Clint Stibbe, narrated that it was almost 4:15pm when the woman attempted to cross St. Clair Ave. W. and was hit by an eastbound vehicle. According to the Emergency Medical Services, the woman suffers from “multisystem trauma.” Almost two hours later, a 58-year-old man was hit by a car on Ellesmere and McCowan Rds. in Scarborough, which inflicted life-threatening injuries around 6:25 p.m. Stibbe suspects that speed might not be a factor in the case as no charges have been laid so far.

Lastly, a 15-year-old boy encountered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, after he was hit by an SUV at Woodbine Ave. and O’Connor Dr. around 7:15pm. Toronto Fire Capt., Mike Strapko, reports that the boy was crossing Woodbine Ave., south of O’Connor Dr., about 15 meters from the nearest crosswalk when he was hit. Strapko urged the general public that “It’s important for people to take the time to go to the proper crosswalk … Not the middle of the street where cars are travelling at the speed limit, especially when it’s dark.”
