An almost 70-years-old Toronto couple has been found dead on Thursday evening, during their short visit to Hallandale Beach., Fla. Capt. Sonia Quinones of Hallandale Beach Police mentioned during a late-night newscast carried by area TV station Local 10, that “foul play is suspected” in the case. The video footage acquired from the crime scene shows a woman, supposedly a family friend, claiming that the couple belonged “from Toronto” and that “their daughter just called us.”
According to the news sources of the local area, the couple was residing in 926 Northeast 25th Ave., i.e. a gated community named Venetian Park. Capt. Quinones explained that the couple had scheduled to meet with their neighbors for lunch on Wednesday, though when they never showed up and were unreachable the hosts got worried. She further elaborated that the couple “had a key, they went in to check the apartment and found the two persons dead inside the apartment.” So far the local police have concealed the names of the two victims, as it avoids commenting on their identity with the media.
Police claims to be notified about the incident around 6:30 p.m. A report filed at Miami Herald narrates that the couple was known to spend winters in Hallandale Beach, and quoted Quinones as saying: “We have few details on how they were killed, but this is definitely a double homicide.” According to unconfirmed local sources, it is suspected that local authorities have acquired video-surveillance tape of vehicles entering and leaving the area at the time of incident.
