A recently conducted poll results show that almost half of Canadians do not support the cause of Idle No More movement, half of which generally belong to  First Nations ancestry. The poll was conducted by Forum Research for the National Post, which showed that clear majority of 49% Canadians, who are aware of the movement, do not support it. Whereas, out of the remaining 51% Canadians, 39% supported Idle No More movement while the rest 12% didn’t know.

The president of the Forum, Lorne Bozinoff, stated that the ongoing protests conducted by the supporters of by Idle No More movement do highlights their issues, but it has not resulted in any increase in support for the movement. Bozinoff explained that “they do have some level of sympathy among the Canadian population, but not for the things they are actually doing, such as the blockades.” He further added by saying “and if they do more of those things it could erode the support for their goals.”

Almost 52% of sampled Canadians in the poll sample, who assuredly had First Nations ancestry, claimed that the they do not support Idle No More movement. This result was specifically surprising.  Bozinoff alleged that “The First Nations individuals they surveyed, they seem to [have] very similar [views] to the Canadian population in general,” explaining that “It could be that Idle No More appeals to a particular segment of the population, but not perhaps the broader group of First Nations individuals.”
