A climatologist from Ottawa, Ian Black, has confirmed that respective authorities have issued a frostbite advisory and windchill warning in Ottawa, which has happened after almost eight years, in light of the temperature to reach as low as -22 C.

The warning issued by Environment Canada cautions of a windchill on Wednesday, asserting that people might feel like it is -40 C outside, whereas the wind chill warning was spurred by expectancy of almost 15 km/h winds. While on the other hand, Ottawa Public Health has re-issued a frostbite warning on Tuesday as health officials claim that windchill, along with temperature around -35 C or colder, can freeze any exposed skin within ten minutes only. The department generally advised public to wear multiple layers of clothing to keep them warm. In consequence of the freezing low temperate, the day got a lot busier for mechanics with the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) in north and eastern Ontario, because they received almost around 500 calls in just an hour near 6 a.m. for starting problem of vehicles. Spokesman of CAA in north and eastern Ontario, Korey Kennedy, stated on Wednesday morning that there is a four-hour delay in Ottawa for anyone at home calling for help to start their car.

Several schools are also closed in rural west Quebec because of the uncontrollably cold temperature, while reports also show that power has been cut for approximated 1,800 customers in the area. The power outage resulted in Camp Fortune to remain closed on Wednesday. Analysts fear that such cold weather is not beneficial for Ottawa at all.
