Free entry to New Brunswick provincial parks on June 12

Admission to all provincial parks will be free of charge on Saturday, June 12, in recognition of Tourism Week.

The announcement was made by Tourism and Parks Minister Brian Kenny during the launch of Tourism Week at an event on the Bathurst waterfront.

"This year marks the 75th year since the creation of provincial parks, and we are pleased to provide free admission for a day for all those wishing to experience what our provincial parks have to offer," said Kenny. "I encourage New Brunswickers to take advantage of the free entry this Saturday to get away to explore our parks."

Also in recognition of the 75th anniversary, the Department of Tourism and Parks has frozen camping and entry fees at all provincial parks.

New Brunswick has 10 provincial parks, all offering a wide variety of activities, including boating, camping, hiking, golfing and swimming. The parks draw more than 750,000 visitors each year.

"There is no better way to spend a day, a weekend or a week than to visit any of our provincial parks," said Kenny. "This is a special year in the history of our provincial parks, and in recognition of this, events and special initiatives will be held at each of them this summer."

The 10 provincial parks are: de la République, Herring Cove, Mactaquac, Mount Carleton, Murray Beach, New River Beach, Parlee Beach, Sugarloaf, Hopewell Rocks and The Anchorage.
