The candidate entitled with second place on Saturday’s result of Ontario Liberal Party leadership race, former Windsor West MPP Sandra Pupatello, has declared that she will be returning to private sector. The end of Pupatello’s short-lived return to politics was confirmed when she replied a direct question by a reporter asking if she intends to quit politics. She said “Oh, for sure” because “I have to work.”

Pupatello gave up her position at PricewaterhouseCoopers for competing in the race for Ontario Liberal Party leadership. Previously Pupatello had quit politics in 2011, after which she returnred this fall by declaring her plan to compete. During the victory speech of newly elected Liberal Party Leader Wynne, she told Pupatello that “I’m going to need you. I’m going to need you to work with me.” Initially Pupatello accredited reports of her visiting the residence of Eric Hoskins, who promised her his support, but later Hoskins decided to support Wynne at the last minute on Saturday. When inquired, Pupatello cleared all ambiguities, saying that “he did tell me he would support me. He told me he would. He told me in his own home with his wife.” She added that “he changed his mind. I don’t know when. Who knows what happened on the floor?”

Pupatello has completely denied any allegations of readdressing $20,000 for the Hoskins campaign. She clearly stated that “there was no redirection [of money]” and “this drama going on is nonsense. Let’s get on with it. [Wynne’s] great.”
