A former psychiatrist, Aubrey Levin, has been pronounced guilty by the jury in the case of sexual assault. He was convicted on three charges of sexual assault against male patients, while considered not guilty of the remaining two charges of sexual assault.

74-years-old Levin was present at the stand in the courtroom, where he stood emotionlessly, as the jury announced the decision, while his son and daughter-in-law could be seen as emotionally driven. Court of Queen’s Bench Justice, Donna Shelley, announced the remaining four counts of sexual assault to be a part of mistrial since the jury was unable to reach a decision. Crown has demanded a jail term of between four and seven years. All jury members convened on Friday and were sequestered over the weekend, though it seemed pretty difficult to reach an agreement on the verdicts. The jury finally reported to the judge on Sunday through a letter that the situation has reached a deadlocked. The letter stated that “after vigorous and lengthy deliberations, we are unable to reach a verdict on any of the nine charges and are not convinced further deliberations will help.”

Justice Donna Shelley requested jurors to keep trying to reach a verdict, hence the jury deliberated all day and reached a conclusion on five out of the nine charges laid at around 7:30 p.m. MT. Levin has previously served as a court-appointed psychiatrist and was charged with nine counts of sexual assault involving male patients.
