The second attempt of Martha Hall Findlay to have a shot at the federal Liberal leader position is being portrayed as an urgent necessity. Hall Findlay was visiting Regina on Wednesday during her ongoing tour of Saskatchewan, when she announced her plan of returning Liberals to fame again.

She acknowledged that the most urgent necessity for the party’s prosperity is a substantive and experienced leader who is capable of ably challenging Prime Minister Stephen Harper in the next general election. Findlay explained that “one of the reasons I’m running for leader is because what happened to the Liberal party in 2011 should never have happened and should never happen again,” even though she herself was one of 43 Liberals MPs who lost their seats in that election. Findlay alleged that the future of the Liberal party is at stake here, while unambiguously opposing any sort of merger with the NDP.

Hall Findlay, a respected 53-year-old Toronto lawyer, is being considered to be among the top three possible front-runners for the position of federal Liberal leader, along with Justin Trudeau and Marc Gar-neau. Out of the total nine candidates, Hall Findlay is the only candidate who has already had a shot at becoming the leader before. Hall Findlay disregarded the news of Saskatchewan’s Liberal MP, Ralph Goodale, to have assumed support for Trudeau, by alleging that “I’m not after one person, I’m focused on all of the people who are paying attention to what’s happening in this.” she mentioned “I’m running a campaign on intelligence, substance, experience and courage – courage to stand up for what we believe is right.”
