The RCMP has reported to have not found any human remains in the backyard of a suspected home it was searching for several days in Shad Bay. The police officials revealed in an announcement on Sunday morning that the Prospect Road search was associated with a missing person cold case and that it was searching the property to look for human remains. The officials had been scorching the place since four days with cadaver dogs, excavators, and shovels to dig up the backyard.
The police representatives publicly announced its motive and goals of the search for first time Sunday, as it had sealed its lips since almost four days. It was not disclosed that whose remains were being searched for at the home. However, Sgt. Al LeBlanc declared that his force will keep on following any available leads in the case, even though he did not reveal which case he was referring to. LeBlanc did not even explain what lead them to suspect the house.
The property searched at 4117 Prospect Road is owned by Thomas Arthur Johnson for decades. It is being highly suspected, though never official confirmed, that the case is linked to the disappearance of 19-year-old Kimberley McAndrew. She was last seen in August 1989, as she left her job at Canadian Tire on Quinpool Road in Halifax. LeBlanc remained extremely cautious when inquired about connection of McAndrew case, saying that “we’re not going to provide specifics of this investigation,” and “we don’t want to speculate.”
