Edmonton teen charged in connection with second degree murder

The Edmonton Police Service has charged a 16-year-old male with second degree murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

A search warrant was executed at a residence in the area of 94 Street and 138 Avenue on Thursday, March 14, 2013. The male suspect was arrested at that time.

The name of the accused will not be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Background:
The Edmonton Medical Examiner has declared the death of a male who died on Sunday, March 10, 2013 a homicide. The cause of death was multiple stab wounds.

The male has been identified as 18-year-old, Mohamed Jama Salad of Edmonton.

Around 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2013, EPS and EMS responded to a vehicle in a parking lot in the area of 133 Avenue and 97 Street where a male with stab wounds was found dead.

It is reported that persons known to the injured male were transporting him to hospital however, the male was already deceased when EPS and EMS arrived.

A crime scene was located in an alley in the area of 94 Street and 138 Avenue.
