Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 8500 Martin Luther King about 1:05 p.m. on Monday (April 1).

The male infant, 7 months, of Houston, suffered severe injuries and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Usher and Officer C. Tosso reported:

The driver of a tan Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling southbound on Martin Luther King when he attempted to turn eastbound onto Thrush and struck a black Buick Rivera traveling northbound. The collision pushed the Buick into two pedestrians, the 7-month-old boy and his 18-year-old mother. Both were transported to the hospital where the infant died.

At this time, there are no charges in this incident. The investigation is continuing.
