VIPs and politicians have already had a quick sneak peak of the highly prestigious and well sought guests who have arrived in Toronto, and will now be formally exhibited for general public at the Toronto Zoo this weekend. The Toronto Zoo is honored to host a pair of giant pandas for a five-year period, the first half of a decade they will spend in Canada.

The highly honored guests, Er Shun and Da Mao, arrived in Toronto on a special FedEx plane in March. They were welcomed at the airport in presence of Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, and his wife, along with an elaborative ceremony featuring a high-school band playing on the tarmac. The zoo has already allocated a purposefully built home for the panda’s at the exhibition during their stay in the city. So far the pandas were awaited to get used to the new surroundings after which they are now ready to greet general public exhibition from weekend onwards.

Toronto’s joyous Mayor, Rob Ford, mentioned during a news conference in the morning that Toronto is fortunate to host the pandas. He stated that “very few cities and zoos have this opportunity,” and so “we are pleased to have the privilege of providing a home for Er Shun and Da Mao and hope their stay at the Toronto Zoo is an enjoyable one.” CEO of Toronto Zoo, John Tracogna, applauded that pandas’ arrival in Canada is a result of many years of hard work by both governments here and in China. He alleged that “today is a proud day for all Canadians.”
