The RCMP have made an arrest in a missing person’s investigation.

Albert Baird, age 45, Dartmouth, is charged with First Degree Murder of Rhonda Wilson.

On August 10th, 2002 Rhonda’s husband reported to New Minas RCMP that she left their Kentville home on August 7th at approximately 9:30 p.m. to go for a walk and did not return. Wilson, a mother of three, was 31-years-old at the time of her disappearance.

The disappearance of Rhonda Wilson was added to the Province’s Major Unsolved Crimes Program in April 2010. While no tips from the program led to the arrest, the profile of the program did generate numerous phone calls to RCMP investigators.

“The dedication of our officer’s and their determination to solve this crime is what led to today’s arrest,” said S/Sgt. Tom Townsend, Officer in Charge of the RCMP Major Crimes Unit. “The investigators never gave up hope that they would find the person responsible for Rhonda’s disappearance.”

At the present time, RCMP have not located her remains. The investigation is ongoing.

Baird is currently making a court appearance in Kentville Provincial Court.
