Amid the continuous and ever-growing controversy around Toronto’s City Hall and Mayor Rob Ford, one member of his hand-picked executive committee has alleged that Mayor For shall “step aside” for the time being. Two more of Ford’s staff members decided to quit on Thursday, totaling the number of staff members, who have quit or resigned his office, up to five. Even though the alleged video showing Mayor Ford smoking crack cocaine has yet to surface or be verified, the story has been able to create furor at the hall exponentially over the time so far.

A member of Mayor Rob Ford’s executive committee, Coun. Jaye Robinson, mentioned while on the air with CBC Radio’s Metro Morning  on Friday that Mayor shall step aside temporarily to clear what she said is a distraction that is hindering city business.  She stated that “there doesn’t appear to be any end in sight,” and so “it’s increasingly difficult to draw attention to the key issues we’re facing as a city.” Robinson alleged that Ford’s insufficient response to the allegations and few public statements have “left too many unanswered questions.”

Meanwhile, Coun. Josh Matlow stated in a Tweet posted on Thursday that the city “needs a new mayor,” though he later clarified that he meant that change shall take place in the next municipal election, scheduled for fall 2014. He alleged that “I’m fed up with this constant circus at city hall,” adding that “it feels like trying to build a house next to a tornado.”
