Algo Centre Mall owner, Robert Nazarian’s lawyer, Michael Title, revealed during inquiry proceedings that his client intends to rebuild on the contentious land that he owns in Elliot Lake as he plans to stay in the northern Ontario community dubbed as a retirement mecca. Title mentioned that his client is so for undecided as to what will be “a positive outcome for the site,” and it will take some time since Nazarian is “going to have to do some work in the community to generate good will.”

Nazarian made the statements during his testimony at the Elliot Lake Inquiry on Wednesday, as he is being investigated by the commission looking for reasons behind the Algo Centre Mall’s roof collision that took place on June 23, 2012, resulting in death of two people and injury for many more.

A resident of Elliot Lake, John Marceau, used to visit the mall frequently and fond of siting in the food court at the Algo Centre Mall, he is helping the public inquiry. Marceau, along with complete majority of the Eliot lake community, is most eager to find out Nazarian’s version of the events and the reason for why he failed to prevent the fatal collapse. Marceau informed the inquiry that he had just put his coffee mug on the table and was going to sit down, when he heard a bang. He stated that “that was it. I passed out,” alleging that “I was hit by the debris [from] that beam when it fall down.”
