Police has confirmed to have found an abandoned four-year-old girl floating unconsciously on top a pool north of Toronto on Tuesday morning. In a latest update on Tuesday afternoon, York Regional Police Sgt., Clint Whitney, assured that the child is very much alive and breathing on her own, though she still remains in critical but stable condition. Whitney elucidated that “the situation is still very, very serious and it’s one of those things where we’re watching every step of the way. But she is breathing, she is holding on, on her own right now.”

It was explained by the York Regional Police department that they received a call regarding the incident at The Pavilion sports centre in Vaughan on Racco Parkway at about 9:45 a.m. Consequently, Whitney alleged that first responded arrived at the location as soon as possible, scooped off the girl and performed CPR immediately after. Whitney claims that initial investigation has suggests that the girl remained under water for nearly one or two minutes before she was found and rescued. It was also established that the girl was originally unconscious at the time she was found, and did not show any vital signs at the time of her rescue.

Police are still investigating the worrying incident and the circumstances that might have led to the child ending up in the pool alone. Whitney revealed that investigators are working to speak with parents who picked up their children and left the premises before speaking with police.
