Premier Kathleen Wynne has expressed complete support of a bonus plan that distributes extremely fervent bonuses to Pan Am Games employees, which sum up to an accumulative $7 million. According to a report published by The Star last week, it was stated that almost 64 employees working for the Pan Am games are anticipated to get bonuses as high as 200 per cent of their base salary, in case they tend to work throughout the $1.4 billion event and if the Games are on budget. One such candidate is the CEO of Pan Am games, Ian Troop, whose base salary is $390,000, and might end up receiving a bonus of $780,000.

Addressing reporters on Monday, Wynne stated that “with the compensation package put in place, we may think it it’s out of whack in terms of comparing with other endeavours but the reality is that we were competing with multi-sport games with other jurisdiction around the Americas and that’s the structure we put in place in order to be able to compete and draw the games here.”

Premier Wynne alleged that “I think we should be celebrating that we won the Games, that our athletes are going to be able to compete and it is a terrific opportunity for tourism and for athleticism in this province.” Moreover, Wynne highlighted that “I think what is terrific is that what you got now is an organization that is delivering on time and on budget the capital project.” She added that “we are well along with having a successful Games.”
