A friend of an American woman, who died of cancer, had tasked her to look for a home for her dog, though it got lost en route by Air Canada. Consequently, the American women sought help from local media, in response to which, a spokesperson of Air Canada addressed an email that was meant to be sent to a co-worker, complaining that local media in the U.S. was even interested in the escaped dog at a time when their government is on a shut down.
The Ohio woman who promised her friend to find a home for dog, Jutta Kulic, booked a flight on Monday morning flight for the dog from San Francisco to Vancouver. She explained during a telephone interview on Friday that she felt “it would be the safest thing for Larry to travel out of San Francisco, two hours straight up the coast to Vancouver, then he had a 24-minute connection to Victoria.” She added in a complaining tone that “he never got off the ground.”
Air Canada had to cancel the original flight, after which it assured that another flight was arranged for the dog, while it will be cared for the night by a kennelling service that will return him to the airport for his morning flight. Kulic alleged that “I was just saying to remind the kennelling service the dog was never to be taken out of the carrier unless he was in a fully enclosed area,” adding that “and Air Canada had been given those instructions explicitly, more than one time, when I dropped off the dog.” However, she was called a few hours later by Air Canada to inform that an employee had taken it for walk and it escaped.
All the more reason I can’t stand Air Canada. These people are lousy; as a Canadian who travels regularly I’ve come to loathe Air Canada and it’s sub-par over-priced service. If they had lost my dog, I’d be up in arms.
