The RCMP has recently circulated a composite sketch of the primary suspect wanted for six sexual assaults that have terrorized the University of British Columbia’s main campus. According to the RCMP, it has affirmatively linked six assaults since the spring to only a single male suspect who targets women walking alone at night. It was highlighted that the number of attacks has comparatively increased in the recent past, as three incidents were reported in October and one in late September.

Police has described the suspect as a Caucasian male in mid 20s or early 30s, who has a thin build and is between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot-2, with a broad forehead and short dark hair. The sketch was specially unveiled in news conference held on Tuesday, during which RCMP spokesperson Sergeant, Peter Thiessen, stated that no new attacks have been reported and the number of assaults remains at six.

While revealing sketch of only one suspect, Sgt. Thiessen reminded that the person of interest in this case are still more than one. He stated that “we want everyone that has any information to help us identify this suspect,” adding that “this is the man that we need to get into custody.” Sgt. Thiessen urged students to continue using every precaution to ensure their safety. The RCMP has increased the deployment of police on campus more than ever before, including a mix of bicycle officers, police using dog teams, patrol officers, and members of the RCMP’s emergency response team.
