Ottawa police arrest several men for thefts at construction sites

Following a three-week investigation dubbed “Project Big Task” which commenced July 26, 2010, the Ottawa Police Service Organized Auto Theft Section, Intelligence Section and Surveillance Unit, in collaboration with the Gatineau Police Service and MRC des Collines, arrested several men in relation to a string of ongoing thefts from construction sites and construction supply businesses in the Ottawa and Gatineau areas.

This investigation culminated in the execution of search warrants conducted at two residences in Gatineau, one in the 600 block of boulevard Lorrain and the other in the 0 block of rue Lauzon. These searches netted an estimated $80,000 in stolen property, vehicles and trailers.

The following people have been arrested and charged:

Guy GRISON, 42 years-old, of Gatineau PQ, charged with
-1 count of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
-1 count of mischief under $5000
-1 count of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
-2 counts of theft over $5000
Additional charges are expected to be laid by the Gatineau Police Service.

Marc GRISON, 40 years-old, of Gatineau PQ, charged with
-1 count of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
-1 count of mischief under $5000
-1 count of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
-2 counts of theft over $5000

Yan MINEAULT, 34 years-old, of Gatineau PQ, charged
-1 count of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
-1 count of mischief under $5000
-1 count of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
-2 counts of theft over $5000

These men appeared in court earlier today and are scheduled to re-appear on August 24, 2010.

Gatineau Police Service arrested and charged two other males in connection to this investigation.

Investigators believe that the accused persons may have been involved in other unsolved thefts, and they continue to investigate.
