According to reports by The Globe and Mail, lawyers for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford are allegedly indulged in efforts to negotiate a private showing of, a previously emerged but recently acquired, infamous video clip apparently showing the mayor smoking a crack pipe.

The relatively troubled reports of negotiations for a private viewing of the video have come after the mayor already challenged the Toronto Police Chief, Bill Blair, to release the video publicly. During his weekly show on Sunday, Mayor Ford stated that “that is the right thing to do,” so “chief, I’m asking you to release this video now.” In his confession on Tuesday, Mayor Ford admitted having had smoked crack probably when “in a drunken stupor.” He alleged that he cannot recall event of that night, so he was asking to release the video. He stated that “I’d like to see this tape. I don’t even recall there being a tape or a video.” The mayor added that “I want to see the state I was in.”

Alleged reports of negotiations with police are apparently known to involve some conditions. Mayor Ford’s lawyer, Dennis Morris, mentioned during an interview that he’s doing his best to try and get rid of those conditions. On the other hand, Police chief, Bill Blair, alleged that the video has become an integral part of evidence to be presented in court against Sandro Lisi, i.e. an alleged drug dealer who is a friend and an occasional driver of Mayor Rob Ford, due to which it cannot be released publicly.
