According to a recent poll conducted by the Ipsos Reid, majority of Torontonians believe that Police Chief Bill Blair shall carry on his duty and stay on his position amidst the ongoing Rob Ford scandal. The poll allegedly found majority are of the opinion that he should remain on the job despite a previous call by the mayor’s brother that he step down.

According to poll results, 70 per cent of respondents “disagree” that Blair should step aside until an independent assessment is conducted into his comments regarding the so-called crack video, which allegedly shows Ford smoking crack cocaine, as demanded the Mayor’s brother. In an astonishing announcement, Blair revealed on Halloween that his force had acquired a video, the contents of which are “consistent” with what has been described in media reports. Additionally, Blair added that he was “disappointed” about what he saw on the video, and called the situation “traumatic” for the city’s residents.

Furthermore, the poll found that almost 86 per cent of the respondents considered Blair credible to work in his position, whereas only 30 per had same feelings for Rob and Doug Ford. The poll mentioned that “it should also be noted that when residents are asked to indicate the extent to which they trust a number of public figures in carrying out their job, Police Chief Bill Blair has 73 per cent trust compared to Mayor Rob Ford at 34 per cent.” Approval rating of Doug Ford was found to be at 30 per cent.
