The news about the death of the spokesman and leader of North Shore Rescue, Tim Jones, has been confirmed as sources claim that he passed away coming down from a team cabin on Mount Seymour on Sunday night. It was later posted on the facebook page of North Shore Rescue, which mentioned on late Sunday that “Seymour Patrol, [BC Ambulance Service], RCMP and Lions Gate staff all put in a massive effort to save Tim but unfortunately he did not come through.” However, no details about the incident have been made available as of Sunday night.

In light of his more than 20 years of work building North Shore Rescue into one of North America’s premiere search and rescue teams, Mr. Jones was awarded the Order of British Columbia in 2011. According to a government website, Mr. Jones often volunteered for up to 50 hours a week at the exhausting, dangerous and unpaid job.

According to his LinkedIn page, Mr. Jones was working as the paramedic in charge with the BC Ambulance Service in North Vancouver since 1982. Moreover, he wrote that he has dedicated his life to become a helicopter rescue coordinator. It was stated that “I am currently mentoring two young men who have tons of operational experience and are now on a journey to become a Helicopter Rescue Coordinator. This is serious business and we take this very seriously.” In addition to that, the page also said that “outside this I have only one aspiration after this and that is to pay back my wife for time lost.”
