Police is looking into a shooting incident that took place near a popular downtown Winnipeg bar overnight at around 1 a.m. near the corner of Graham Avenue and Carlton Street. Witnesses confirm that the shooting started after a disagreement went out of hands outside the Tavern United restaurant and bar, when a man pulled out a gun and started firing at a group of people in the parking lot on that corner. One man was injured in the process who had to be taken to the hospital.

One of the eyewitness sitting on the rooftop patio at Tavern at the time of shooting, Osama Zeid, alleged that “I thought it was fireworks or something, there were a lot of people in the parking lot.” Zeid explained that “I saw a guy limping and a silver car raced over to him, opened the passenger door and took off out of the parking lot.” He also confirmed that “he was shot in the leg.” The victim was reportedly shifted to the hospital and is listed in critical condition. However, there is no immediate update on his condition since the morning.

According to Zeid, police arrived on scene a short while before the shooting started and the shooter surrendered soon after. Zeid said that “the guy dropped the gun and put his hands up right away when he saw the cops.” He alleged that “it was over just as fast as it started.” Overall, reports claim that six or seven shots were fired and vehicles in the parking lot were hit by stray bullets.
