Several analyst have professed that federal Liberal leader Justin Trudeau and his team are planning to use New Brunswick’s Sept. 22 election to determine the success of their organization and all potential policies scheduled to be adopted for the federal campaign expected in the fall of 2015.

It was highlighted that Mr. Trudeau and the 32-year-old provincial candidate for premier, Brian Gallant, are quite similar in several key issues like being young, fluently bilingual and untested leaders. Moreover, both leaders enjoy impressively high popularity in the public opinion polls and are contending against Conservative veterans seeking their second majority governments. According to a senior Trudeau strategist, “there are so few election campaigns in this country, you don’t get a chance to try things out.”

Furthermore, it was highlighted that both federal and provincial Liberal campaigns are so some that familiar faces are appearing in New Brunswick to help aide the campaign. Former Liberal Prime Minister, Paul Martin, has openly announced his intention to help Mr. Gallant set up a cost-cutting program review if the Liberals form the government. Back in the 1990s, when Mr. Martin was the Finance Minister, he used a program review to identify millions of dollars of savings and allowed the government to balance its budgets. Whereas, Mr. Martin’s former top aide, David Herle, is polling for the provincial Liberals as he did for the provincial Liberals in Nova Scotia and Ontario, both of which won majority governments. He is also a key adviser in the federal campaign.
