Toronto Mayor Rob Ford finally got tired of being inquired about his alcohol and drug problem questions and briefly addressed the issue during a mayoral debate on Friday night. Although Mr. Ford has so far been reluctant to talk about his high-profile battle with alcohol and drugs with media, he gave remarks on the issue in front of a crowd of seniors in his home territory of Etobicoke.

During the debate sponsored by the Canadian Association of Retired Persons, Ford alleged that he has been his own worst enemy. He mentioned that “one day I woke up and looked at this guy in the mirror and I’ve been in a lot of fights and I’ve won a lot of fights.” Mr. Ford added that “there was one guy beating me day in and day out and that was the guy in the mirror.” According to Mr. Ford, his experience in the rehab has substantially changed him. Ford alleged that “I said ‘I’ve had enough’,” and “I went out, I’m proud, I’m a better person than I’ve ever been and those days are long gone.”

Upon inquiry by media personals about why did he choose to debate on personal issues, Mr. Ford alleged that people are asking him about them. He stressed that “I have nothing to hide,” and added that “I go up here and I’m sick and tired of that. So, you know what, I’ve been saying it, maybe you’ve missed it a few times, people keep asking me. What else can I say? It’s done. We’re moving on.”
