A shooting death was reportedly in a usually quiet Surrey neighbourhood, near 145th Street and 83A Avenue, just after midnight on early Saturday morning. One of the nearby residents, Hardev Sandhu, explained to have “heard about five, six time[s], bang bang bang. So I thought it might be someone driving, shooting.” Meanwhile, the neighbors also confirmed to have heard a vehicle squeal away right after police arrived on the scene.

Approximately a dozen officers were called on to the scene in the area on Saturday afternoon. Onlookers reported to have seen a truck, on the other side of police line, with a shattered side window and holes in the windshield. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has ruled the incident to be apparently a targeted one. The observation has shocked many neighbours, including Amar Pal, who was shaken by the frightening incident and said that “I could have been walking down that [street] and been a victim along with [him]. So that kind of thing gets you scared.”

Meanwhile sparse details have been revealed by the police as Surrey RCMP Chief Supt. Bill Fordy alleged that the investigation is in the early stages. Fordy stated that “the investigation is very fresh,” and so “we’ve got a team out looking into it, trying to first determine exactly what took place at the scene and then start to look at the victim, and the investigation will progress from there.” Investigators are scheduled to provide an update on the case and identify the victim on Monday.
