A 93-year-old veteran of the Second World War from Guelph, Ont., Frank Taylor, has revealed to have all his personal documents, including irreplaceable papers from the war, stolen in a robbery that took place at his home in southwestern Ontario. According to Taylor, the thieves infiltrated the safe at his home and stole his insurance, birth certificate, military discharge papers and a number of other items he kept as souvenirs from his time with the Canadian military.

Explaining the extent of the things stolen, Taylor stated that “everything I owned,” adding that “everything to say who I was. I have nothing left now. They cleaned the whole works of it.” Taylor explained to have gone out of his home for a few hours on Friday morning and found one of his doors damaged upon return. Taylor alleged that his house was a mess and his safe was empty as its edge was bent and showed signs of forced entry. Moreover, Taylor stressed that he had collectible coins, jewellery, war payment records and about $1,000 in cash inside the safe at the time of the robbery, along with all of his important personal documents. He said “they meant everything to me. What else have I got?”

On the other hand, police has revealed to be actively investigating the break-in while acting Staff Sgt., Tim Griffiths, alleged it’s too soon to say whether Taylor was targeted because he is a war veteran. Griffiths stated that “we don’t have any information that it might be something related to Remembrance Day,” adding that “it just makes it that much worse that it was a veteran that was picked on.”
