Neighbors and family have alleged to be utterly surprised over the arrest of 59-year-old Orleans man, Ian Bush, suspected to have broken in the house of war veteran Ernest Côté. Bush now faces several charges including forcible confinement and attempted murder.

Bush’s neighbor, Joanne Snow, alleged that he is not the kind of guy who could break into a 101-year-old war vet’s house, tie him up, place a bag on his head and rob him blind. Snow stated on Sunday that it was “absolutely shocking” to learn and “I cannot believe it.” It was added that “the family is just so nice and we enjoy them being our neighbours and we will continue being their neighbour and friends with them. Until they prove that he is absolutely guilty, I just hope the best for the family.”

Bush was arrested at his Orleans home on Saturday after surveillance video allegedly caught him using Côté’s stolen credit card. Neighbors living on the quiet Orleans Street describe Bush as a family man having a wife, three adult children and a new grandchild. Stressing that Bush is living in the area for four or five years and owns a consulting firm in Ottawa, Snow stated that “it just doesn’t seem possible. We have talked to them I don’t know how many times. They are a beautiful family.” It was added that “just knowing him and seeing them as the family and as the couple, I can’t get it in my head that this has happened.”
