On Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at approximately 12:30 p.m., East Division officers were called to Ross Tilley Public School at 45 Westside Drive in Bowmanville for a distraught student. The student became upset after learning he was to receive a Hep B needle and threatened to cause damage to the school while being spoken to by school staff.
Due to the age of the child and concerns over public safety, officers consulted with the crown’s office and charged the child with Threatening. The police were in touch with his family and after reviewing all factors, the child was held for a bail hearing.
Police take all threats to teachers, administration and school students seriously and advise that anyone over the age of 12 could face criminal charges.
