Air Canada flight AC850, from Calgary to London, England, has been forced to make an emergency landing at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport on Monday morning. Flight AC850 left Calgary International Airport a short while before 7 p.m. on Sunday and was scheduled to land at London’s Heathrow Airport at 10:50 a.m. on Monday.

Air Canada’s Media Relations Manager, Angela Mah, explained that an electrical smell was detected in the cabin of Boeing 767 as it headed north towards Nunavut. She stressed that the flight was only diverted to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport as an “abundance of caution.” Thereafter, all 201 passengers of the flight were made to board another jet after landing in Toronto at 5 a.m. and are anticipated to arrive in London at 6:36 p.m. local time.

Earlier on Sunday, two Porter Airline planes flying out of Toronto were forced to make emergency landings and a third heading to Toronto had to land early. The first flight was heading for Washington, D.C., which left at approximately 9 a.m., but was forced to land at a rural Pennsylvania airport. Whereas the second flight was coming from Thunder Bay, Ont., to BBTCA but was forced to stop short at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. Whereas, the third Porter plane, headed for Sudbury, also landed early after leaving BBTCA. The plane left the downtown airport at around 7:30 p.m., but was forced to land at Pearson when one of the jet’s two engines shut down.
