Canadian police has confirmed that it is investigating an apparent triple murder-suicide in response to a Facebook post by a man who confessed to have had murdered his daughter, wife and sister, before killing himself in a house fire. In the unsettling confession on Facebook, Randy Janzen confessed to have recently shot his 19-year-old daughter Emily because she was struggling with depression from a long time.

The Facebook post published by Janzen on Thursday alleged that “I could not see my little girl hurt for one more second,” adding that “Emily had tried everything to get better but nothing seemed to help her. I took a gun and shot her in the head… [she’s] floating in the clouds on a sunny afternoon now, her long beautiful brown hair flowing in the breeze, a true angel.” In addition to that, the post goes on to say that then he killed his wife Laurel because “a mother should never have to hear the news her baby has died,” and later his sister Shelly, so she would not be shamed by his actions.

Explaining the reason behind the two shootings, Janzen elucidated that “I shot Laurel because a mother should never have [to] hear the news her baby has died. Then a couple of days later my sister Shelly because I did not want her to have to live with this shame I have caused all alone. Now my family is pain free (sic) and in heaven.” Lastly, Janzen expressed his “great remorse” on Facebook, explaining that he could no longer accept his daughter having to “stop almost everything” due to the migraines.”

  1. Terribly sad story, hopefully Emily is now at peace. I lost a friend to suiccomment_IDe caused by horrific migraines. I cured my own depression naturally after suffering terribly with anxiety and depression since I was 13.

  2. Who knows what was going on in the man’s head… I think all of us can agree that no one in the right mind would do such a terrible thing… Was it depression or some other mental health issue, it is important to admit it and try to overcome it. Maybe things such as this could be avocomment_IDed by lifting the stigma of mental illness. People should not be ashamed of any kind of illness. It’s not like you are doing it on purpose. I battled depression for years, and I am so grateful that I managed to fight that daemon off.
