The Wakaw resident on trial for conspiring to kill his wife and his girlfriend’s husband, Curtis Vey, revealed to the police during an interview that his alleged plot was just talk and he did not intend to act on it. Police record shows that Vey discussed giving sleeping pills to his wife and potentially setting their house on fire once she fell asleep.
The RCMP officers who interviewed Vey on July 7, 2013, Vey Cpl. John Kalmakoff and Cpl. Gabriel Buettner, revealed that he told them that the “bottom line is it would have never fricken happened. We had two discussions over it. And we could have never figured it out.” Vey’s wife had recorded a conversation between Vey and his co-accused, Angela Nicholson, when they were allegedly plotting to murder her. Vey and Nicholson are now charged with two counts each of plotting to kill their spouses, Brigitte Vey and Jim Taylor.
Upon inquiry about why did Vey even discussed killing his wife, he replied that it was a “mixed-up feeling” that had to do with the couple’s “intense” issues. However, he reasserted that it was only a discussion and admitted that “it’s a discussion that never should have happened.” During the interview, Vey was confronted with his quotes from the recording such as, “The key is you got to be able to do it. You have to be real,” and talk of the plan being “iron clad.” Vey denied making those statements, saying there was no agreement in place.
