Have you noticed? The Isle of Man is over! The motorcycling event of the year, the holy grail of motorcycle racing, the Apollo Creed for every motorcycling Rocky Balboa, the Mount Olympus of motorcycling gods is – over. It vanished, probably even more inconspicuous than the previous sentence of this text did. What in the world happened to it? The answer is simple – after almost two weeks of braking records, roaring engines and streams of adrenaline, it had a cold shower.

The 2012 Isle of Man TT started out as the one to remember. John McGuinness added two new TT wins to his account making it total of nineteen so far. His go is obvious and it is the twenty six TT victories, the record held by the late motorcycling legend Joey Dunlop. Beside John McGuinness in his pursuit of everlasting glory, Guy Martin is probably in pursuit of any kind of glory. The brave Muttonchops racer is yet to taste the victory on the TT.
His Suzukis were not quite up to the job, as it seems, but, just like every other year – there’s always the next year. That leaves John McGuinness with wins in Dainese Superbike TT and Royal London 360 Superstock, Bruce Anstey with a win in Monster Energy Supersport Race 1 and Michael Dunlop in Race 2. Ryan Farquhar won the Bikerpetition.co.uk Lightweight TT and finally, the one race that is probably the most significant on the 2012 TT – the SES Zero TT with Michael Rutter winning on a Motoczysz. The significance behind the 2012 Zero TT is that for the first time in the rather short history of the category the Ton lap barrier had been breached. The first one to average a hundred miles per hour a lap was to win the ten thousand pounds prize. Motoczysz finally made it, but although they were the first to do it, they were not the only ones. The first three places, out of four bikes total, clocked in average speed of over a hundred – smells like progress.

And then, just as the goose bumps on our skin started announcing that the one race everyone had been waiting for is nearing – a cold shower. The final race of the 2012 TT, the Pokerstars Senior TT, had first been postponed due to bad weather, then again some more, and then finally canceled. Now, call me a grouch, but that just leaves a bitter taste. It feels as almost they left without a goodbye. Well, until next year then…
