Pair Replace Omar Gonzalez and George John for Friendlies against Venezuela and Panama
U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has added Seattle Sounders midfielder Brad Evans and defender Jeff Parke to the January training camp roster. The duo, which was part of the squad that captured the 2011 U.S. Open Cup championship, traveled to Phoenix today to join the 20-player roster that is preparing for upcoming friendlies against Venezuela and Panama.
Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy) and George John (FC Dallas) both were given approval to withdraw from the roster prior to the start of camp in order to deal with club-related matters.
Evans has earned four caps for the full National Team, including three appearances in the USA’s run to the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup final. Parke becomes one of five players seeking to play his first game for the United States.
The U.S. will host Venezuela on Jan. 21 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Four days later, the U.S. faces Panama at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City. Fans can follow both games live on ussoccer.com‘s MatchTracker and Twitter @ussoccer.
