Canada’s men’s U-17 team wrapped up its 12 day USA and Jamaica camp with a 0:1 loss to Jamaica in Montego Bay on Tuesday 2 November. The young Canadian squad recorded a pair of victories from its four international matches played during the trip, including a 1:0 victory over USA and a 4:2 victory over Jamaica.

The Jamaican U-17 side scored the lone goal of the match in the 27th minute. Canada’s attempts to draw level suffered a set-back when Keven Aleman was sent off in the second half after receiving his second yellow card of the match.

Canada’s head coach Sean Fleming starting line-up featured Xander Huggins (goalkeeper), Parker Seymour, Marco Lapenna, Daniel Stanese, Ismaïl Benomar, Omari Morris, Matteo Pasquotti, Bryce Alderson, Christopher Nanco, Kevin Aleman, and Jay Chapman. Second half substitutions made by Coach Fleming were; Lapenna replaced by Adam Polakiewcz (45), Morris replaced by Wesley Cain (45), Chapman replaced by Sadi Jalali (60), and Nanco replaced by Jalen Brome (75).

The first part of Canada’s camp was based in Sunrise, FL, USA where Canada played two international matches against the USA. The young Canadians fell 0:2 in the opening match on 26 October before bouncing back two days later with an impressive 1:0 win in the re-match on the strength of an Ismaïl Benomar strike.

Following the USA portion of the trip Canada travelled south to Montego Bay where the team gained more valuable international experience with a pair of matches against host Jamaica. Canada defeated its hosts 4:2 in the opening match on 31 October before closing out its trip with the 2 November loss.

Canada, whose title sponsor is BMO Financial Group, is preparing for the 2011 CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship which runs 14-28 February in Jamaica. The championship will feature 12 teams with the top four qualifying for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Mexico 2011.
