Canada welcomes the world in 2010! The Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will be held in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia.

Torch relay
The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay began in Victoria, British Columbia, on October 30, 2009 and will end at the Opening Ceremony in Vancouver on February 12, 2010. The lighting of the Olympic Cauldron at the opening ceremony signals the start of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Host city
2,116,581 — The population of the census metropolitan area (CMA) of Vancouver, the host city for the 2010 Winter Games.

9,248 — The population of the district municipality of Whistler, the site of many of the 2010 Winter Games’ competitions.
