FEAST IN THE EAST is a monthly east end music, food & installation series. This month features a FREE Ostara dinner of yellow curry & a sprouted salad curated by Marie LeBlanc Flanagan STEVE KADO (http://www.theblankket.com/) Toronto artist, musician, all around interesting human Steve Kado (Blocks Recording Club, The Blanket, Ninja High School) unveils his newest adventures in sound. Composed music for a band, no singing, self described as, "something like a really long Wipers song". Dude that band was known for making pretty long songs already! A versatile critical & comical thinker this is sure to be a serious treat! NIFTY (http://radio3.cbc.ca/#/artists/Prince-Nifty) Toronto’s Matt Smith (Owen Pallett, New Feelings, Blocks, etc.), throws around his voice like some lighter than air element, over electronic synth manipulations. Laid back beats grow into tight electronic soundscapes where twisted vocals dance with their textural counterparts in a house of mirrors. Abstract drones become dance music fodder, etherial vocals lost in a void of their own creation. Come to get down or nerd out over gear! BLAME FACE (http://blameface.blogspot.ca/) Whoa, freak noise project Blame Face reunites! Featuring Matt Davey (John Milner, You’re So Boss) plus 2 other cool dudes, creating some heavy oscillating soundscapes. Like dinosaurs communicating with each other, but through the layers of fuzz the borrowed from My Bloody Valentine & all those other shoegaze bands. Pretty much the soundtrack to Terminator, but with less guns & more pollution/foreboding. THIGHS New noise punk revival unit featuring members of Pants & Tie, Odonis Odonis & more, channels the chaotic energy of The Jesus Lizard with the herky jerky & spazz elements of Arab On Radar. This band is far from a caustic mess, using bare bones punk structures, they weave what can only be described as mosh music. Angular riffs with crunchy textures. Singer Mark Colborne showcases a rawer more strung out side of his vocals, almost desperate, over distorted grooves. Come early to check this! Installations by Dmitry Bondarenko & Friends $7 Adv. at Circus Books & Music, The Film Buff and Soundscapes. $10 at the door FREE dinner with adv. ticket!
