There's a moment in every artist's life when he knows that music is not only his path, but his destiny. Justin Hines grew up singing in church, but at a Toronto Raptors' basketball game in his hometown 15 years ago, he knew where his life's journey would take him.  A then 14-year-old Justin won a vocal competition to sing both the Canadian and America National Anthems and his world opened up before him.  Justin Hines’ unique musical style is reminiscent of great storytellers like Jim Croce, James Taylor and Joni Mitchell.  Hines brings his inspiring mix of pop, country folk and rock to the Flato Markham Theatre at 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2012.

Motivational speaker and talented singer/songwriter Justin Hines has traveled the world, and played in front of sold out crowds in some of the most prestigious venues in North America. Justin has also thrived against incredible odds. Hines has Larsen Syndrome, a joint dislocation condition that has confined him to a wheelchair his entire life. He admits his condition has created hurdles, but primarily sees the good it has brought him and the inspiration he can provide others. Hines has dedicated himself to various charities since launching his music career, including repelling off of one of San Diego’s tallest buildings – in his wheelchair – for a local children’s charity, as well as the “JustInspired” campaign launched in South Africa using his music. The initiative resulted in the makeover of 20 schools in 11 days, educating over 22,000 students.

Days To Recall, released August 2, 2011 is the Justin’s debut album which All Music Guide describes as ‘a pastiche of folk-pop styles that incorporates, at various points, orchestral strings, a sort of lite-reggae groove, solo voice with guitar, and jangly guitar rock”.  Days To Recall featured the album’s first single “Tell Me I’m Wrong” which quickly climbed US Billboard Charts and received airplay on radio stations across Canada and the United States.  In August 2011, PBS presented his headlining concert special in major markets across the country featuring guests Ron Sexsmith and The Canadian Tenors, among others.

Justin Hines’ supporters run the gamut, from The Rev. Dr. Desmond Tutu who appeared in his “Say What You Will” music video as part of the “JustInspired” campaign, and Sheila E., who fell in love with his music upon first listen at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 where the two were performing.
