Music to connect you with the city around you. Every day, each resident of Toronto engages intimately with the massive, collaborative art project that is our city. In our concert, “What Is Toronto?’, we explore the iconic events, places, and unique qualities that define our perceptions of Toronto. Together, these pieces shed light on the Toronto of our past and present. The performance will be curated by Toronto Historian Jay Young. Dr. Young is a founder and co-editor of ActiveHistory.ca, a website that connects the importance of the past to current events. His PhD thesis was on how the subway represented Toronto’s changing identity from the 1940s to the 1980s. Conceivedby Matt Roberts and presented in partnership with The Al Green Theatre.
