Commencing outside St. James Park (King St. E. between Jarvis & Church Streets) where protestors will rally and hear from several speakers, the march will head West on King Street East turn South onto Church Street proceed East on Front Street to St. Lawrence Market circle the four corners and perhaps hear from another speaker head North on Jarvis Street and then West on King Street East back to St. James Park. Currently, marches are planned to occur simultaneously at 2 p.m. Eastern on six continents, in 40 countries, totaling events in over 300 cities worldwide. In Canada, events are slated in eight provinces and 30 cities. WHY WE MARCH: Boycott GMOs and protect our food supply Support local farmers Spread awareness about the harmful effects of genetically modified foods on health and the environment Promote organic solutions and a sustainable agriculture Expose the cronyism between big business and government Bring accountability to those responsible for the corruption SOLUTIONS WE ADVOCATE: End patents on seed Demand regulatory modernization of the Novel Foods Act (governing GMOs) to reflect new science Labeling of GMOs so that consumers can make informed decisions Further scientific research on the health effects of GMOs Holding Monsanto-supporting politicians accountable through direct communication, grassroots journalism, social media, etc. Continuing to inform the public about Monsanto’s secrets THIS IS A PEACEFUL PROTEST.
