STARE CASE (http://americantapes.us/starecase.html) Nate Young & John Olson of Wolf Eyes fame return to Toronto with their duo project Stare Case. Freakish droning abstract blues roots songs channeled through twisted electronics, bass and various woodwinds. Languid chords creeping through gurgling electronics and carefree oscillations. Nate’s vocals moan & echo over the meandering horn patterns that meld into Olson electronics. An intricate assemblage of lost thoughts carefully arranged in the new found rawness of a re-invented blues. Avant jammers don’t sleep on this one! BEARD CLOSET (http://beardcloset.bandcamp.com/) Toronto solo guitar slow motion shredder, creates blistering wall of guitar feedback, crackling & buzzing as he pushes heavy notes like sheets of scrap metal around beneath them. Tempered with drowning ethereal tones, reaching for the higher register, haunting. A crushing symphonies for the harsh heads. As the harsh psych walls collapse, kraut inspired guitar noodling emerges, awakened in it’s new freedom. Electronic hums & oscillations play with wayward guitar notes & looping minimalist patterns. MYSTIC TRIANGLE (http://mystictriangle.bandcamp.com/) Ben from Mimico’s solo electronic outing Mystic Triangle, builds structures from drum machines, wavering synth tones and dissonant guitar. Laid back goth rockers lost in some kraut electronic zone. Vocals reach out through an effected landscape. Guitar notes shake like whispers swimming in a fog of airy vocals & synthesized tones. Dark yet light! HOOVER PARTY Jonathan Adjemian’s solo synth/electronic compositions have been floating around Toronto for years. Probably one of our best kept secrets is the subtle beauty & joyful genius of Hoover Party. Sounding like a mix between some dark arcade/NES nightmare score, Wendy Carlos and Germany circa the mid 70’s, Adjemian creates something that is his own. A hushed world of bleeps & bloops grow in an etherial garden. Don’t miss this master manipulator of the subtle. Visuals by Shauna Jean
