“where art” by Simina Banu:
A kidnapping. A murder. Crimes at the level of language. where art displays a mystery where its own letters are both its victims and its culprits. Inhabit the role of an I-less detective, work alongside drunk sonnets and two of the five Ws to unravel the plot: what happened to comma and its closest confidant, apostrophe, and y?
“this is a love poem, but let’s not be too straightforward about it” by philip gordon:
“this is a love poem, but let’s not be too straightforward about it” is a collection of poems from philip gordon exploring love, poetry, love/poetry, love and poetry, and the stuff in-between.
“Interzones” by Domenica Martinello:
One definition of the word “zone” is as follows: “any continuous tract or area that differs in some respect, or is distinguished for some purpose, from adjoining tracts or areas, or within which certain distinctive circumstances exist or are established.” An “interzone” is the liminal space between tracts, historically the place between two military occupied areas—somewhat of a garrison.
Domenica Martinello’s collection of poems can be distilled to three interwoven themes: grief, self-effacement, and how these two things are negotiated in urban spaces (bars, cities, apartments, parking lots, subways, etc.)
“The Discovery of Love” by Daniel Scott Tysdal:
“The Discovery of Love, Excerpts From an Endless Oral History” is one poem in a series of fauxccasional poems. In it, the reader can find excerpts from interviews with Christians in the 1970s who suddenly discover that Jesus preached Love, and, because of this discovery, they work to legalize gay marriage.
